Salvation from sin and its dreadful consequences is accomplished in and through Jesus Christ. Because of God's wonderful grace, He worked out a plan to deliver us from death and destruction: This was the work of Jesus on the Cross. Jesus suffered our punishment and satisfied justice for us. This wonderful gift is received through a system of faith (Ephesians 2.8-9). It is revealed through the New Testament scriptures (Romans 10.17), which clearly state what we must do to receive the free gift of God and be saved: trust in Jesus (Acts 16.31), repent, or turn from sin to follow Christ (Acts 3.19), verbally confess of our faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God (Romans 10.9-10; Acts 8.36-37) and be baptized, or immersed in water for the remission of our sins.
